First Contact
Our moms, who work together at Woods Cross High, thought it might be fun to set us up. So, we reached out (McKay first, Natalie responded), with introductory texts to each other, and started to get to know one another.
Natalie grew up in North Salt Lake, graduated from Woods Cross High School in 2015, and Utah Valley University in Fall 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in Deaf Studies, Interpreting emphasis. She’s 23-years-old, enjoys just about anything nerdy (Harry Potter, Star Wars, Star Trek, Marvel, Dungeons & Dragons, etc.), and is the youngest of two.

McKay, a lifelong native of Kaysville, graduated from Davis High School in 2015, and is currently attending Davis Tech for Automation & Robotics. He’s 23-years-old (two months and two days older than Natalie), served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in London, England from the Summer of 2015 to 2017. He is the youngest of four children.

We went to lunch and then went and saw Star Wars Ep. IX. We had such a good time together that we decided to set up a second date for later in the week.

After five or six dates, we went and saw Knives Out on Valentines Day and went to dinner. At the end of the night, we shared our first kiss on the front porch of the Hewitson's house.

On our six-month anniversary, we planned to go on a hike above the Bountiful temple, and then go get some dinner. At the top of the hiking trail, sitting on a bench and eye-level with the Angel Moroni, we got engaged.

In spite of the pandemic world we live in now, we will not be stopped. This day will mark the begining of our new family. We chose this date not knowing beforehand that our Temple would open for Phase II. Having originally planned to be married civily first, now the plan is changing almost daily. Come rain or shine, this will be the first day of the rest of our lives together.
Out of love and concern for all of our family and friends, our celebrations this day will be limited to parents, grandparents, siblings and their families only. Our heart hurts to not have all of our friends and extended family around us this day.

Please return here on Septempber 4, 2020 where a live stream of our wedding ceremony will be shared with you all.

Natalie and McKay are pleased to announce that they will be married by Natalie's bishop. These wedding plans were in place before the recent announcement of Northern Utah Temples opening under Phase II COVID-19 conditions. Because of our love and concern for all, in-person attendance will be kept very small. We invite you to join as we stream the event below. You will all be in our hearts.
